Bio

Originally from California, I have called Prairie Grove, Arkansas my home since I was 13. I have two daughters. My oldest daughter, 14, attends Prairie Grove Junior High and my youngest daughter, 5, will start kindergarten next year. Our family stays busy throughout the year with cheer, band, and gymnastics. We reside in Prairie Grove and are active members of Prairie Grove Christian Church. I volunteer in the early childhood program and my oldest daughter sings in the youth group.

When my oldest daughter was two years old, I found my passion for teaching. At the time I was working in accounting and I continued working in accounting while I went to school part time to become a teacher.

Internship

I had an amazing internship experience at Farmington Jr. High School and learned so much through the internship. I was responsible for all of Survey of Business classes which included creating lesson plans, teaching all lessons, and grading all the assignments. I was able to teach all of the Microsoft Word unit to the students and we had 17 students receive their Microsoft Office Word Certification!

Throughout my internship I took short reflection videos every week  where I talked about what I learned. I learned about the impact that administration has on a school. Farmington Jr. Highs' principal and vice principal do a great job in creating an environment where their staff feels appreciated. I also learned how difficult the end of the nine weeks is. I was up late grading late assignments and double checking students that had missing work. I am so grateful that my internship gave me a real experience of what it is like to be a teacher and I was able to learn so much.
